La Sportiva Lavaredo Ultra Trail by UTMB®

Cortina d'Ampezzo (Belluno), 26 June 2022

4 days of races, 5,000 registered runners and 4,285 athletes from over 70 countries at the starting line. These are some of the numbers of the 2022 edition of La Sportiva Lavaredo Ultra Trail by UTMB® which took place from Friday 23 to Sunday 26 June in Cortina d’Ampezzo in the heart of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The award ceremony, which took place at midday on Sunday in piazza Dibona, concluded the first edition with the UTMB® World Series branding. La Sportiva Lavaredo Ultra Trail by UTMB® 2022 is the only Italian date of the prestigious circuit which brings together all the main world trail events. “Our presence in the UTMB® World Series is a very important added value and gives a fundamental outlook to our work”, the two coordinators of the organisers, Cristina Murgia and Simone Brogioni stressed. “The numbers for this 2022 edition are significant: more than 10,000 applications and a draw to allocate the available 5,000 race bib numbers. The 76 countries represented confirm the increasing international nature of the event”. In relation to numbers, 1,476 athletes set off from the starting line of the Lavaredo Ultra Trail and 1,135 finished the 120 kilometres - that’s a finishing rate of 76.8%. For the UltraDolomites 891 started and 812 finished (91.1%). 1,491 started and 1,427 finished the Cortina Trail (95.7%) and 427 started and 410 finished the Cortina Skyrace (96%).

On top of these numbers there were more than 200 participants in the Kids Run, a race that enables children to approach the running world and have fun. “A huge thank you to the over 600 volunteers who helped with the La Sportiva Lavaredo Ultra Trail. Their contribution is a real testament to their massive enthusiasm for the event and the Dolomites”, continue Murgia e Brogioni. “Our partners too have demonstrated enormous enthusiasm, Cortina d’Ampezzo’s Municipal Administration and all the other municipalities along the race routes, the Alpine Rescue Service, the Italian Alpine Club and other associations in the area from hoteliers to volunteers, companies and, of course, first and foremost our title sponsor, La Sportiva. We want to continue our race towards the future with them.”
